UN Peacekeeper Holds Lecture on Campus

IPU students came face to face with some of the world’s most pressing issues recently, thanks to a campus visit from UN peacekeeper and New Zealand Army Lieutenant Colonel Todd Hart.
UN Peacekeeper visits IPUAs part of a seminar held by New Zealand Institute of International Affairs Palmerston North branch, Todd delivered a talk describing his first-hand experience in United Nations (UN) peacekeeping missions in Angola, Timor Leste, Iraq and Israel.

Currently serving as a UN peacekeeper in the UN Truce Supervision Organisation, Todd inspired students with stories about his role of de-mining, while at the same time helping to deepen their understanding of the political, economic and social backgrounds of these countries. One of the peacekeeper’s key messages was the importance and value of continuously reading, studying and experiencing regional and global issues.
