New Zealand Tertiary College (NZTC) is a private tertiary education provider based in Auckland, New Zealand. For 27 years, we have specialised in training people to become qualified early childhood teachers who care for and educate children aged 5 years old and under.
New Zealand Tertiary College was originally called Kindercare Early Childhood Teachers College. It was established by Kindercare Learning Centres in 1982 to provide a formal training programme for Kindercare teachers. We changed our name to New Zealand Tertiary College in 1997 as teachers from other centres and members of the public became attracted to our qualifications.
All NZTC qualifications are NZQA approved. We also work closely with the New Zealand Teachers Council and Ministry of Education to ensure our graduates are granted professional status in teaching. Graduates from our Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) and Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Early Childhood Education) are eligible to apply for teacher registration in New Zealand.
We offer flexible learning options for our students to enable them to study while they are working in early childhood centres. In addition to our college-based classes, we offer a distance learning programme, and in 2009 we started offering an online mode of study. We have developed our own software in-house for our online learning mode to ensure it is the best available e-learning tool for our students.
