A South Auckland careers expo in March will provide local hospitality employers with a great opportunity to check out some top-quality staff.
Red Fish, a recruitment company recently launched by private training provider New Zealand Management Academies (NZMA), is holding its first Careers Expo on March 20, from 10am to 2pm. The event will be held at NZMA’s Auckland South Academy in Otahuhu in conjunction with an NZMA Open Day.
According to Red Fish Recruitment Manager Barry Anderson, the expo will be an excellent way for employers to check out the calibre of NZMA students and the quality of the training they are given. It will also give employers an insight into the valuable range of services offered by Red Fish including a large database of work-ready trained hospitality staff. Better still, because Red Fish has been set up primarily to find NZMA students relevant jobs, employers who use Red Fish do so free of charge.
“Red Fish has been established with the main aim of hooking employers up with appropriately skilled and qualified students and graduates from NZMA. It’s a win-win situation – our students get good jobs and employers have access to quality employees without the fees which standard recruitment companies charge, or the hassle of advertising,” says Anderson.
“Hospitality is one of our key areas of expertise – we know the type of staff industry is looking for and the skills and qualifications they require. With the severe staffing shortages many in the industry are facing right now, this expo will undoubtedly prove worthwhile for both employers and NZMA students and graduates looking to launch their careers.”
Because it is being run in conjunction with an NZMA Open Day, the event will enable employers to see first-hand the quality of training delivered by the provider and the level of skill NZMA students graduate with. Employers will be able to meet with potential candidates to discuss employment opportunities and students and graduates will be available for on-the-spot interviews.
Many of the Red Fish employer partners, including Air New Zealand, Coca-Cola Amatil and Telecom, as well as several local hospitality establishments, have already reserved space to showcase their companies and the employment opportunities that they offer.
“All new partnerships are welcome,” adds Anderson. “Any employer can come and have a look and we are also encouraging interested employers to set up stands at the expo to boost their profiles. There is no charge for this.
“At Red Fish we are able to give employers access to a large bank of trained workers – workers who are not just in the industry for the cash, but who are passionate about forging careers in the field. The Red Fish Expo is a very time-effective way for employers to take advantage of our recruitment services while at the same time promoting their companies to potential employees.”
