The Pacific International Hotel Management School (PIHMS) has been accepted into the prestigious Leading Hotel Schools of the World network.
The Leading Hotel Schools of the World is an organised network of the world’s premier hotel schools that provides the most advanced and comprehensive education available to the hospitality industry.
Founded in 2002, under the auspices of The Leading Hotels of the World Ltd, there are now nine hotel schools in the network, which includes hotel schools in: Helsinki, Finland; The Hague, Netherland; Bad Honnef, Germany; New York; USA; Aurangabad, India; Caroline, Puerto Rico; Lima, Peru and in Chile.
The Pacific International Hotel Management School is the only fully residential hotel school in New Zealand where students can live and study in a simulated hotel environment. PIHMS also has accreditations with the International Hotel and Tourism Training Institute (IHTTI) of Neuchatel, Switzerland, to offer a Swiss Diploma in Hotel Management and the Australian Hospitality Review Panel to offer an Australian Advanced Diploma in Hotel Management. PIHMS offers a range of dedicated hotel management programmes at undergraduate, bachelor and postgraduate levels, which are all accredited through the New Zealand Qualifications Authority.
All students completing courses at PIHMS, graduate with internationally recognised qualifications and 12 months of paid work experience in leading hotels throughout New Zealand, Australia and further afield.
Two New Zealand properties are members of the Leading Hotels of the World network – The Langham Hotel Auckland and Huka Lodge, Taupo. PIHMS students regularly gain 6-month industry placements at both luxury properties. Currently, PIHMS is proud to be able to claim that at The Langham Hotel, Auckland graduates hold the following positions: Hotel Accountant, Rooms Division Manager, Front Office Manager, Reservations Manager as well as other supervisory and front line roles.
PIHMS Principal, Flora Gilkison says in partnership with the other top hotel schools in the Leading Hotel Schools of the World, PIHMS can interact with industry leaders to ensure that the fast-paced and ever changing hospitality industry has a future supply of top rate managers who have a strategic understanding of how to manage their companies and deliver quality service to their clients.
