Two of Whitecliffe College of Arts and Design’s Year Four Fashion Design students, Mollie Barr and Tara Cuniffe, were commissioned by Seekers and their mother company Maurice Kain to design and produce two outfits using furnishing fabrics from their
latest ranges.
The two outfits were displayed at Maurice Kain’s stand at the designEx 2008 in Sydney, Australia. “Tara and I were very excited about having our designs featured in an international design expo of such calibre” says Mollie.
designEx is the premier exhibition in Australia for interior architecture and design. The event ran from the 10 - 12 of April, at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre. Tara said “It has been an amazing journey to get there; thanks to Belinda Watt and Michčle Whitecliffe’s networking we were able to compete in the Plush competition at designExNZ in Auckland last year. We worked with Seekers then and built strong personal bonds with their design and marketing departments. We were very excited when they contacted us to be part of designEx 2008 in Sydney – as fully paid-up designers this time! It is an amazing opportunity to display our designs overseas and gain fantastic exposure, both for us and Whitecliffe, within the Australian design community”
Mollie and Tara won Best Overall during last year’s competition. Celebrating their 20th year, designEx is Australia’s most comprehensive and innovative market-leading design event, offering a comprehensive showcase of new products, exciting features, prestigious awards and informative seminars and courses presented by leading industry professionals.
