Flurry of Awards for Axis AdSchool Friday July 25, 2008

AXIS Adschool students and alumni have been making waves again with a flurry of awards coming their way. AXIS Adschool is part of Media Design School.

Current students Alysa Wakefield, Antony Bell and Adam Taylor walked off with the three TVNZ Student Challenge ‘baby’ AXIS Golds at the New Zealand Advertising Industry's AXIS Awards held on May 3 in downtown Auckland.

Equally importantly in the main event, former AXIS Adschool students picked up three Golds, four Silvers and a Bronze. The Bronze was awarded to Aidan Elliot and Duncan McKenzie on placement at DDB, Aidan and Duncan graduated only last November. The wins were further proof that many graduates continue to succeed at the highest professional levels.

Meanwhile, Lil Cameron and Matthias May from the 2005 class recently flew over to New York to pick their John Caples Awards. They won first prize in ‘online ad consumer’ and second in 'multimedia campaign consumer' for their Gingerbread Haka idea. David Bell says, “Lil and Matt were an exceptionally strong team on the course, and have gone on to do very nicely at two of New Zealand's best known agencies. It's great to see that their industriousness, talent and commitment is now paying dividends for the New Zealand ad industry on the global level. This won't be the last time I sing their praises.”

Jeton Morina from the 2006 class has scored himself a silver Clio "environmental design” with Ogilvy Kosova.
