Director of The Learning Connexion, Jonathon Milne, is a finalist for the Dominion Post Wellingtonian of the Year Awards, also known as The Wellys. Jonathon is a finalist in the Business section.
The Wellingtonian of the Year Awards are a celebration of the many individuals across all sectors of the community who make Wellington an exciting and vibrant place in which to live and work. This year is the 20th anniversary of the awards.
Jonathan’s career has included experience in the fields of education, art, creativity, science and business. The Learning Connexion began very modestly in Jonathan’s own living room some 20 years ago and has now become the biggest art provider in New Zealand. Its existence and continued growth is testament to Jonathan’s unerring belief in the fundamental importance of creative learning in society today.
He also, very recently, unveiled his new book Go! The Art of Change, which explores processes of art and creativity as a starting point for personal and collective change. It is, according to reviewer Jenny Argante, the “Bible of the creative arts.” It’s safe to say that there is nothing quite like it in the history of New Zealand publishing.
Nominations for the Wellingtonian of the Year awards are open to the public. Nominations are put forward to a panel of judges who decide three finalists in each of the eight categories. Each category winner and the Supreme Wellingtonian of the Year winner will be announced at an awards dinner on Thursday, 6 November.
ITI congratulates Jonathon on his nomination and wishes him the all the best at the awards.
