The hoteliers at Pacific International Hotel Management School (PIHMS) for the Spring 2005 Recruitment Expo returned to their various properties with a great impression of the school and its students.
Once again, the hoteliers commented on the wonderful hospitality they received during their time at the school and the professional attitude shown by most of the students they met.
The Tuesday night dinner for hoteliers is always a great opportunity for PIHMS to showcase what our students can produce in terms of excellent food and service. This semester food and beverage (F&B) attendants dressed in jockey shirts served the pre-dinner drinks and canapés, and the hoteliers were able to watch the Melbourne Cup race on the big screen. The hoteliers’ sweepstake was won by Scott Wallace from Millennium Queenstown.
The dinner menu included scallops, lamb rack, smoked duck breast and feijoa and vanilla bean ice cream, which the hoteliers were still raving about the next day. The theme for the dinner was PIHMS 10th Anniversary and the guests were addressed by Financial Controller, Robert Oliver.
21 hoteliers attended this semester’s Expo representing 11 different chains/properties. Eight of the attendees were at PIHMS for the first time. As well as Human Resources Managers, we had an Executive Housekeeper, a Front Office Manager, 3 F&B Managers and a Divisional Director in attendance. While the Industry Placement Team make sure the hoteliers are well looked after during their time at the Expo, they are also expected to work hard—181 interviews were scheduled over the 2 days.
