The AdSchool at Media Design School celebrated its end-of-year AdShow on16 November with the announcement of the first-ever recipients of the DDB Scholarship Award from advertising group DDB.

AdSchool 2011 team Jake Barnes and Liz Richards were selected for the scholarship following an extensive review of portfolios from this year’s current crop of Media Design School advertising students. The award provides a three-month internship at DDB on a full junior salary and includes mentorship from a senior DDB creative.

AdSchool Course Leader Kate Humphries said, “The DDB Scholarship Award shows a real commitment to investing in young talent by the agency and offers Jake and Liz an opportunity unlike any other in this industry.”

Sandy Moore, DDB’s CEO, said the award reflects the agency’s genuine desire to nurture new talent into the industry. “This is an industry founded on fresh thinking and there’s no better place to find it than at the Media Design School. An award like this can springboard young creatives into a great career while helping to keep our industry vital and progressive.”

AdSchool’s end-of-year event at the Media Design Centre attracted some of Auckland’s most talented creatives (and one dog) from major agencies including DDB, M&C Saatchi, Barnes, Catmur & Friends, Ogilvy, Draft FCB and Special.

AdSchool at Media Design School was named the fourth best advertising school in the world by Young Guns in September 2010. Previous Young Guns winners from Media Design School now work with leading local agencies such as Colenso, McCann’s and Special, and international agencies such as DDB Switzerland, Taxi in Toronto and The Hive in Dublin.
