ITI ITI October 2007 Newsletter

Introduction from the Executive Director Neil Miller

Tertiary education in
New Zealand is currently in a state of rapid and significant change as the Government moves to implement the tertiary reform process.  The education media is filled with reports of requests for additional funding, frustrations over delays and possible cuts to services and staff across all forms of providers.

These are very serious issues but we also need to acknowledge that even during these challenging times ITI members are continuing to deliver a quality education to their students.  That is, after all, their very reason for being.

It is for that reason this newsletter continues to focus on positive stories relating to members.  It is also worth considering the ITI vision for an ideal tertiary private education policy:

“A key goal for Government in tertiary education is to raise the aspirations, experience and opportunities for all students.  The tertiary sector is broad and all providers should focus on  ensuring that quality, value, diversity and access is delivered to all New Zealanders."

ITI will be releasing more policy in the lead up to the 2008 election.
