ITI ITI Newsletter January 2008

Welcome to the first ITI Newsletter of 2008.

The academic year is well underway at ITI member institutions with reports of continued strong student demand for quality courses over a wide array of subjects.  Employers and community organisations continue to list skill shortages as a major brake on operations and the private tertiary sector has an important role to fill in providing relevant education and training.  We can also expect an increased focus on value-for-money in the education sector this year - an area where ITI members traditionally do well.

The main issues facing ITI members at this stage appear to be "over-provision" (the 103% cap), ensuring that funding genuinely follows performance in the sector, improving PTE access to contestable funding pools and reducing unnecessary paperwork for institutions.

This newsletter covers graduation ceremonies at the International Travel College and New Zealand Tertiary College, Whitecliffe's new home and serious video gaming at the Media Design School.

Executive Director
