Welcome to the September 2008 edition of the Independent Tertiary Institutions (ITI) newsletter.
The election date has been set and many in the private tertiary education sector will be interested to see what political parties have to say on the issues currently facing providers and learners. While private tertiary education is unlikely to be the hottest topic in the campaign, the policies that parties develop will have an impact on the future of the sector.
ITI believes the 2008 election represents an opportunity for political parties across the spectrum to produce considered, positive policies which leave behind many of the arguments and pre-conceptions of the past. The focus, as always, should be on what will be good for the learners. To help the political debate, ITI has produced and launched a pocket manifesto outlining the key policies we would like to see at Election 08. We would particularly like to thank the politicians - including Hon Maryan Street and Dr Paul Hutchison - who attended the launch.
Also in this newsletter, the New Zealand Management Academy (NZMA) in West Auckland picks up some big awards at Adult Learners Week and the International Travel College (ITC) campuses transform into industry expos for a day.
Cheers
